Today, we proudly recognize Mary Mlot, a standout employee whose unwavering commitment does
not only embody our values but also drives our mission forward.

Since the very beginning, Mary has been focused on creating a community within Hilltop of our
volunteers, but her dedication goes beyond the community she is building within Hilltop. She has
expanded our outreach efforts for Volunteer Services, connects with other organizations, and shows
up to build connections at almost every single event we host as an organization. She is creating a
volunteer focused community throughout the entire Grand Junction community.

Mary makes sure there are opportunities for everyone at Hilltop through unique and valuable
volunteer work. She makes sure that every person who enters the Hilltopper community has a
chance to feel belonging, grateful-ness, and a sense of giving back. Mary stepped into the
organization at a time when we were in the midst of changes, but she has embraced all of those
changes, helped team members – from volunteer services team members to our senior leadership
team members – also embrace the changes. Because of this, she has increased the volunteer
services appreciation in our organization and is building a culture of volunteerism.

Mary exemplifies Relationship, Growth, and Fun.

Mary is a master at building relationships with anyone and everyone. She is dedicated to making
sure relationships are fostered, cultivated, and serves both parties. She has developed relationships
with leaders at Hilltop, volunteer programs around the community, and volunteers themselves.

Mary also focuses heavily on growth. She is so adaptable that she takes every challenge she comes
across as an opportunity to shift, think about things differently, and grow her own skills.

Mary brings the fun. Just her aura is fun to be around, but she also leans into creating a fun
environment for our volunteers. She hosted the largest Volunteer Appreciation event to date, and
everyone in the room was having fun, laughing, and enjoying time.

Mary highlights how much growth can happen when someone truly believes in our mission and
values. She has led the charge in changing volunteer services from something that people didn’t
think they wanted, to something everyone is wanting to engage with. This is because Mary believes
in adding value to our internal and external community, building strong connections, and making
sure everyone can have a place where they belong at Hilltop.
