Steven Vigil – June 2021

Steven has with Hilltop since 2014 as a Resident Engagement Specialist. One of the things we admire about Steven is his passion for art. Through his position in engagement, Steven has been able to share with the LAP residents this passion which helps to spark their imaginations and creativity. This allows residents to tap into their inner artist to express themselves through amazing works of art. Steven will always ensure that he designs art projects for all of our resident’s different abilities so that all have the opportunity to participate.

Since COVID began, our Resident Engagement department was temporarily closed down and Steven was offered the opportunity to work his original schedule, but in the care department. Like some programs across our organization, these operational shifts have gone on longer than anyone anticipated. A year later, Steven still continues to work in the care department, and has handled the reassignment with such grace and professionalism. He brings such a calming presence to our campus when he is on shift.

Steven provides our residents excellent service no matter which role he is working with them in. He has an ability to develop meaningful relationships with everyone, residents and co-workers alike. In addition to working in a different department, Steven will often jump in and work any open overnight shifts to help out the team.

Steven is always willing to take on new tasks to grow his knowledge base and further his ability to help others. He is always open to receiving and providing feedback to help his own professional development and to help the program strive for excellence. Steven takes ownership of his mistakes and has a willingness to make any improvements to better the level of service he provides.

Through the last year, Steven has really stepped up and gone above and beyond to assist wherever there is a need in the program. Steven has said many times “Hey, whatever y’all need, I’m happy to help”. Steven lives and demonstrates Hilltop’s Values each day and LAP is proud to have him apart of our team.
