Hilltoppers,

I am happy to report the results of the COVID tests that were conducted at our residential facilities last week. Out of a remarkable 636 tests administered, 631 came back showing negative results, and the other 5 need to be readministered due to a poor sample collection. This is great news as it shows what we have been doing is working and we do not have asymptomatic individuals at this time. The five individuals needing to be retested have already been reached out to. If you need a print out of your individual test results, please contact your campus nurse.  I want to thank you all for your patience and follow through with this testing and hope the tickling sensation in your nose has finally gone away!

These test results add weight to our petition to the Governor for less restrictive rules for our assisted living facilities like the Commons, Fountains, and LAP. We are currently preparing a plan with Mesa County for a slow, safe way to ease current restrictions. It is our hope the testing we’ve completed will provide concrete data to support our plan. If we can show we don’t currently have asymptomatic positive cases in our facilities, it will help us in our quest to lessen restrictions on visitation, return to communal dining, and allow for larger group activities.

As of right now, all current procedures are still in place and handwashing, social distancing, and mask usage is still very important. While these test results and possible policy changes are exciting, we cannot lose sight of the most important goal: keeping our staff, residents, and clients safe and healthy.

Together, we got this.

Mike
