Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Unsung Heroes

Hilltop’s Latimer House and Domestic Violence Services is proud to recognize Doug Frye and the staff at Mesa County Animal Services as their first “Unsung Hero” for providing safe housing for pets in domestic violence situations. Karla Kitzman, director of Hilltop’s Latimer House says, “Doug and all the employees at Mesa County Animal Services are willing to help us problem solve placement of animals in difficult cases. This helps eliminate a barrier for those in dangerous situations that might delay seeking help due to concerns about their pets.” October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we will be recognizing the individuals and organizations who help support women, children and men affected by domestic violence throughout the month.
