Hilltoppers,

Flu shots are a fall tradition around here. Hilltop provides free flu vaccinations to all staff and volunteers, but unfortunately this year’s shipment has been delayed. Marlys Harman, our Employee Health Nurse, has been working tirelessly in monitoring the status of our order. Supplier delays, coupled with the sheer volume of 750 vaccines, has made the question of when we will get the flu shot impossible to answer at the moment.

What I want to encourage you all to do is not wait on us. Physician’s offices and pharmacies such as Walgreens, Safeway, City Market, and Walmart all have stock. Under the Affordable Care Act, this is classified as a ‘wellness vaccine’ and should have zero copay with Hilltop insurance (or a small copay without). Primary Care Partners has several children’s flu clinic dates posted, call 243-5437 to make an appointment there. The Mesa County Health Department has many nurses on staff and are ready to provide flu shots, call 248-6900 for more info.

If you work at the Commons, Fountains, Senior Daybreak, or LAP, getting your flu shot is mandatory to maintain our licensing. Marlys will need documentation of your 2020 vaccination for records and reporting, so make sure to keep the documentation. As COVID-19 still prevails, the last thing we need as a community is to be hit hard with influenza this year.  Please do not hesitate to get your flu shot at the first opportunity and we will inform you immediately when we receive the Hilltop vaccines.

Together, we got this,

-Mike
