This October we are recognizing Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month. No matter what campus you work on, what you do at Hilltop is connected to providing services to those in our community that need it the most.
There are many ways you can get involved and raise awareness this month:
- Wear purple this Thursday, October 19th. This is a national recognition day showing support for suvivors. And don’t just wear it, tell people why you are wearing puple! Don’t forget to share that Hilltop’s Latimer House is the local place to go for support, resources, and advocacy in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Sport a pin, ribbon, or sticker that will be making their way to your campus this Thursday (you can wear it all month if you want, not just for Purple Thursday)
- Educate yourself! Montrose FRC will be taking some time at their staff meeting this week to learn about DV 101 and there is still time to sign up for the Hilltop U Course: Intimate Partner Violence, Power and Control, and Latimer Services – 11am, October 19th at the Corporate Office. Click HERE to sign up. If you can’t make it to one of those, check out the amazing resources to read on your own HERE
- Attach the Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month signature graphic to your email this month. Download it HERE
- Take a minute and set your Teams background to a new Latimer/Awareness themed image. Download it HERE.
These are all simple and small steps that can have a large impact in the long run. Let’s stand together and raise awareness for Intimate Partner Violence, support the victims and survivors, and promote social change so everyone can live a life free from violence.
