Rick exemplifies Hilltop values in everything he does. Rick builds strong relationship with the youth he serves, that remain intact long after his Hilltop involvement has ended. We have received more letters then we can count from youth and their families on the difference Rick has made in their lives. Rick is a coach in all things he does. His partnerships in the community has led to youth employment, college enrollment , and other vocations. He is well respected by staff and community members. Rick’s impact on youth creates accountability, commitment and a desire for youth to reach their full potential. Rick encourages and offers activities to youth that create an opportunity for them to be courageous, challenge the status quo, and speak truth to power. He respects all youth and their families culture or situations, treating all with dignity and respect. He always utilizes strength based language, we have never heard Rick speak negatively about youth and their families. He celebrates each person’s success no matter how small. Rick is always smiling, he has the ability to teach youth how to have fun appropriately. He challenges the status quo by exposing youth to rafting, canoeing, hiking, and sports, pushing youth out of there comfort zone.
