Hilltoppers,

August seems like so long ago, but that was indeed when the Employee Voice Survey was open and we asked for your feedback on how Hilltop as an organization is doing. We have spent several months organizing and analyzing the data, and now is the time to close that feedback loop and share with you some of the results and what actions we are taking based on your feedback. We’ve reviewed the program-level results with each Ops leader and they are committed to looking at things to celebrate as well as work on at the program level. This process is never ending as we continue to strive for excellence. Thank you to everyone that participated and let your voice be heard.

-Mike

Survey Highlights:

On average, our culture and company pride continue to remain very strong. Our culture, mission and values remain one of the top reasons people say they come to work for Hilltop and why current employees indicate they love Hilltop. We are proud our culture remains strong despite the difficulties we are all facing right now in the world—and we are grateful to each of you for contributing to our culture.

As a company, we truly believe in the services we provide. Our Net Promoter Score, which is based on the question, “how likely are you to recommend Hilltop’s services to friends or colleagues,” remains in the “excellent” category. This is true because of each one of YOU and your efforts to care for our clients and residents the way you do. Thank you.

On average, our satisfaction with compensation has improved slightly. We believe this means our extensive work to bring wages up with the new wage scale has helped. We also continue to look at how we can improve our overall compensation and have included continued discussions about wages in the year’s strategic plan.

Areas to Continue to Improve:

Many people feel we can improve our learning & development opportunities at Hilltop. One of the ways we plan to address this is to complete a revamp of our entire learning & development program to better support you, your supervisors, and your teams. Our Employee Success team is working closely with an advisory committee of people across the organization committed to creating a program that is accessible, relevant, and engaging. Stay tuned – “Hilltop U” is coming January 2021!

-While perceptions of leadership remain very strong, the survey indicates we can do better at ensuring employees feel we take their feedback seriously. One of the ways we are addressing this is creating a virtual Employee Suggestion box to allow you to share your bright ideas, insights and solutions to problems ANYTIME—not just when we conduct surveys. We will test run this idea for six months to see if this is a useful tool. Every single submission will be reviewed by Rebecca Weitzel, our Director of Employee Success. Stay tuned for an announcement when this goes live!

Overall engagement was below expectations for the survey with only a 64% response rate, and was much lower in some areas. Hearing from just over half of our employees makes it hard to fully understand the Employee Voice survey results. For us to take action on what matters most, it’s important we hear every employee’s voice. We will be looking into ways we can grow participation during the next survey period, but know we are an organization which values both courage and growth and truly wants to hear your voice.
