Kumiko has worked for Hilltop since April of 2016. She started at The Commons as a Care Manager and has recently been promoted to a Memory Care Manager. She is the kind of person that brings a smile with her to work every day and leaves them behind for others when she leaves a room. She is a hardworking, fun loving, kind of person who touches the hearts of our residents, and their families, on a daily basis. She is truly, deeply, passionate about enriching the lives of those around her. She could literally be a poster child for the Hilltop Values and here is why:

Putting People First – Kumiko is always the first person on our team to step up and volunteer to help her co-workers, her team, and other departments. Outside of work she does volunteer work for other organizations as well as for Hilltop. She always puts other’s needs before her own.

Building Relationships – Kumiko has built a relationship with every person she has come in to contact with in her time at Hilltop. She is on a first name basis with all of her residents, as well as their family members, she reaches out to 3rd party providers to get to know them, and their organizations, so she is better able to help her residents. She jumps at any opportunity to work with other departments, and to get to know them as well, so she can assist them when they are in need. She is the type of person that makes you feel like you have known her for years after meeting her for just minutes.

Striving for Excellence – Anytime we have a meeting and just mention “it would be nice if we had…”, the next morning she will have a draft already in my inbox for review. She takes it upon herself to create, update, and change, departmental training books, onboarding binders, instructions to staff, or anything else that just needs to be done. She will jump at every opportunity to attend a training or class to further her personal growth and that of her staff. You can even find her, literally, cleaning out cabinets when she sees they are getting messy or dirty. She is like the Energizer Bunny of The Commons, she just keeps going, and going, and going.

Challenge the Status Quo – Don’t let her quiet demeanor fool you, Kumiko will be the first to speak up if something doesn’t seem, feel, or look right. She is an amazing advocate for residents and staff. She doesn’t just want to know the “why” behind everything we do, she needs to know so she can decide how to make it even better and more efficient!

Taking Responsibility for our Actions – Kumiko has never been afraid to ask about something she may not know. She will admit if she was wrong or misunderstood something, and she also allows that grace in others. Her integrity would be impossible to challenge.
