“The special people of Hilltop who genuinely care for our residents, clients, and staff. There are many, in every program, and here is a group of people that I admire and appreciate for their care, compassion and dedication in keeping Hilltop healthy and informed. The people from the COVID TEST TENT ROCK!!”

Mickie Vaill, Purchasing

“Hilltop is an organization emerged in community development with endless opportunities. From onboarding as an intern to blossoming into an employee, Hilltop has become my second home. Hilltop’s progressive transparency evokes my passion for serving others. The empathetic nature of Hilltoppers inspire me to become a more promising version of myself as a young professional. Cheryl Fiscus, Information Technologies

“Hilltop means interacting with my community especially the residents I see day to day.”

Mason Burke, The Fountains

“Hilltop is like my home away from home. It is inviting, warm, and caring. The residents never fail to bring love and joy to my heart and I am always grateful to return the love. Hilltop has allowed me to grow and to discover things about myself that have altered the way I see myself, the world, and my future. I am proud to work for and to be a part of the Hilltop family. Although Hilltop may be a stepping stone in my life, I would not trade my 4 years of service here for anything.”

River Kincade, The Commons

“When I think of Hilltop I think of growth, building relationships, teamwork, diversity, kind smiling faces, and an organization that really truly cares about the people they serve and their employees. I’m proud to work at Hilltop and I’m so grateful for my team mates and for my supervisor/supervisors past and present for always being so supportive and promoting growth. Hilltop is like a second family and I’m so grateful for everyone who has influenced me, coached me, and help me grow along the way.”

Jamie Gonzales, Support Services

“My favorite value of Hilltop’s is FUN. Here is me posing as my boss :)”

Leather Bang, Property Services

“For me, Hilltop means an abundance of opportunities! A chance to serve this amazing community in more ways I thought were possible. The fortuity of being in a supportive and accepting work environment that emphasizes the value of the individual. Being part of a team who trust me and my abilities to do my job, and do it well. Being encouraged to learn new things that will help me be not only a stronger employee, but a better person. Plus, the opportunity to make a little more money and have more financial stability never hurts! I feel blessed to work for this company, and cannot wait to see how I grow with Hilltop!”

Emilie Stickley, Marketing

Linda Ross

“Hilltop means community, commitment and comradery.”

Ryan Delucci, Property Services

“Hilltop means friends who have become like family. It means having a place to work that i get to help people each day.”

Alexandra Neuleib, Senior Daybreak

“Paul has been with Hilltop for 6 + years and Chuck Scarecrow has been hanging around Hilltop for about the last month. Chuck likes Hilltop because the people working here are not just a bunch of ‘stuffed shirts’. Paul thinks Hilltop is a great place to work and that FUN is a part of what makes this a special place to work.”

Paul Stockwell and Chuck Scarecrow, Montrose Family Resource Center

“There once was a young man who really wanted to work with people. He thought to himself, ‘Fast food is a great way to serve people!’ and so he worked fast food. He quickly realized that hungry people are also angry, and that wasn’t fun. He met a beautiful girl, so with extraordinary luck and a great deal of unsubstantiated confidence, was able to get her to marry him. He then forgot about his desire to help people, and went to work in the oil field. He said ‘I’ll make a ton of money and then I’ll get a job where I can work with people!’ Boo for him. The young couple had children, and slowly turned into an old couple (not the wife though, she somehow stayed young). One day, the man woke up and realized that life was short, remembering he still wanted to work with people. He quit his job and enrolled in college, and searched for a job that would give him the best opportunity to help people. Again, riding his absurd luck, he found a job at Hilltop! The man was very happy, because at Hilltop they shared donuts and coffee and stories together. He got to work with families who needed him, and he got to be a part of a community that genuinely cared about him and his family. He also has good insurance. The man was me. I am that man!”

Jeromy Ozaeta, Family Connections

“Hilltop means to me acceptance of the people we serve, the staff we mentor, and family we support. I have had the pleasure to work for this organization for over 25 years, and in that time I have always felt like I am accepted, supported, and loved by this organizations and it is for those reasons I stay and continue to strive to make a difference in the individuals peoples lives that I serve and support.”

Lisa Vega, Brain Injury Services

“One of my favorite quotes says it best, “be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart, and strong enough to live the life you’ve always imagined.” Hilltop creates space for me to be bold, brave, and strong. I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”

Angie Wickersham, Brain Injury Services

“I started with Hilltop in 1996 & worked with kiddos in our community. From 2013-15 I worked in a Denver facility that proved how different Hilltop was from other agencies. I am so glad to be back working in the culture where I flourished.”

Jeff Wright, Brain Injury Services

“Hilltop means opportunity. Opportunity to create new relationships. Opportunity to be courageous and challenge the status quo. Opportunity to include, everyone. Opportunity to grow, learn, and develop skills. Opportunity to have fun!!”

TJ Vanroosendaal, The Fountains

“To me Hilltop means respect, compassion, understanding. I particularly like how we are encouraged to accept people where they are and not judge them with our preconceived notions. I think everyone has something weighing on them and we need to be patient and loving to everyone we meet. Most of the Hilltop employees that I meet treat each other with that kind of understanding, respect, and compassion.”

Valerie Puckett, Family Tree

“Friends that became family; extremely talented, skilled and knowledgeable people, who’ve come together in unprecedented times to better our community and care for our residents.”

Jaime McCullah, Environmental Services with The Commons

“Hilltop means to me that I am fortunate to get up everyday to do better and to be better. I am fueled by other Hilltoppers who are true difference makers and by leaders of an Organization that lives by its mission of People First.
I am inspired by the culture of integrity and hard work of those around me. I appreciate the belief, support and encouragement I am given and value the trusting relationships I have made and continue to make. The inclusive nature at Hilltop has provided me a workplace that gives me the courage to overcome my insecurities and has helped foster the culture of many growth opportunities. This has provided a workplace that has given me comfort and has instantly made me feel at home. Through all of this, Hilltop to me has become a journey where I look forward to learn, grow and have fun along the way.”

Amy Payne, People Ops

“‘First we drink coffee, then we help people!’ (And sometimes we do both, simultaneously).
To me, Hilltop is a place where passionate people come together with the same goal, to help our community. Our jobs are all about holding space and supporting others. It can be hard sometimes! I can count on my fellow Hilltoppers (and Sprucer) to make me smile and find time for fun!”

Jordan Gruppuso, Montrose County Collaborative Management Program

“Hilltop to me means community. Although I have only worked for Latimer House, I have been able to get to know so many of my fellow Hilltoppers through the wellness team, assisting with COVID testing, and our monthly FRC meetings and events. This past year has been incredibly hard, but we’ve made it through because of the amazing connections we have with each other. I have made so many connections with people in Hilltop and in the greater community because of my work with Hilltop, and I am incredibly grateful for that.
My time at Hilltop has showed me how enjoyable and rewarding a career can be. I have amazing, supportive leadership who help me to thrive in my position. I have coworkers who I can genuinely call friends and who make me want to come to work every day. I value how Hilltop strives to recognize the places within our organization and our community that need to be changed and works to make those meaningful changes. Throughout my time working here, I have seen so much growth with our EDI initiatives, and so much meaningful engagement through our leadership with making our organization equitable and accessible for a broader population. I genuinely love working here and I feel so fortunate to work for a company that puts as much work in to supporting me as I put in to supporting my participants.”

Abby Leinbach, Latimer House

“Throughout the years, I have enjoyed wearing festive Christmas gear and have amassed quite a bit. I have been on an incredible health journey, starting in May 2020. As a result, of weight loss, many of my beloved Christmas sweaters are now too big, which is a little sad. What is incredibly joyful is working at LAP and being able to give those sweaters to the residents. I am able to still enjoy the sweaters AND the joy that it brings. Working at Hilltop means I can be festive and joyful and know that it brings smiles to the faces of those around me.”

Dana VanderBurgt, Brain Injury Services

“It means family including staff and residents! It’s actually a way of life, where “the person I am” can make a difference in the lives of those who had “the person they were” taken from them by a traumatic brain injury! To help them become a new person and in the process help me to become a better person! It means sometimes enduring hardships and behaviors that I don’t like in the process! It means a handshake, a kind word , telling or listening to a good joke and sometimes even a hug is necessary. It means accepting laughter and tears as equals!! And darn it means I am thankful for and love my job!! Hilltop means the world to me!”

Jamison Trevan, Brain Injury Services

“Hilltop is like a family and I certainly wouldn’t want to be a part of another organization. When RYS announced its closure, I knew there were many places on Bacon Campus where I could continue to put people first. I am grateful for all the opportunities, support, and sense of belonging that Hilltop offers.”

Damian Chandler, Brain Injury Services

“I love the opportunities I have to help people become a better version of themselves, whether it’s teaching them parenting skills in their homes through Parents as Teachers or helping them find resources they need through community outreach at Grand Junction Mutual Aid. Hilltop means taking care of people and meeting them where they are.”

Sandi Fairbanks, Parents as Teachers/Family First

“In the two years I have worked at Red Compass, I have obtained my Real Estate License and just recently added another certification to my title. The opportunity for growth has kept me feeling valued as an employee. It really means a lot to me that the company is very family oriented, I hope to stay in my position for many years to come!”

Nicole Mandonado, Property Services/Red Compass Realty

“A Hilltop Haiku:

A hill, no it sits
Among others at the table
A seat awaits you”

Margaret Siligo, Colorado 2-1-1

“I take personal and professional pride in caring for our resident’s at the Life Adjustment Program. Hilltop has helped teach me the ability to care and love for other people’s loved ones. I am thankful for the opportunity to help make a difference ♥️”

“The residents, seeing them smile and putting a happy face on. Dancing with them, just having fun, and enjoying your job. I really live my job the people I work with and the residents.”

Denyse Vrbas, Brain Injury Services

“Caring people, caring for people in the community.”

Kim McEuen, Property Services with The Cottages

Star Randall, Property Services with The Commons

“Hilltop, to me, is about loving to learn! Hilltop has given me so many opportunities to discover my career path and pursue it. Hilltop has empowered me to chase after my dreams in applying for a masters program and furthering my education. Hilltop makes learning so much fun and gives me so much room to grow personally and professionally. Thank you Hilltop!”

Kristina Yamaguchi, Family Tree

“I love that Hilltop is all about finding a way to meet the needs of each individual. Whether it be the participants that receive services or employees. Hilltop values the individual and that goes so far in strengthening the community.”

Amber Creek, ADRC

“Hilltop is synonymous with community. You can’t have one without the other.”

Katie Vanderberg, ADRC

“It’s a Shark Eat Shark world out there. Glad I work for Hilltop.
Or
Yum…People First!”

Teresha Taylor, Montrose Family Resource Center

“Working at Hilltop is one of the most rewarding jobs. From the residents we have served to the residents we are serving coming to work is something that puts a smile on my face each and every day. Not only is it the residents but the staff that work at Hilltop.”

Melissa Hower, Brain Injury Services

“Asking myself ‘What Hilltop means to you’ is such a loaded question. There are many short one worded answers that would only begin to scratch the surface: Home, Family, Acceptance, Remembrance. All of these things that I find in infinite combinations is the reason I continue to come to work. It is the breakthroughs I have with my teammates. It is the consideration we take for the ones we lost and still serve. It is the constant strive to be the best we can, even when no one is looking. It is the willingness to listen as well as learn. For 70 years Hilltop has taken on the communities needs and striven to provide an outstretched hand. The fact that we can be a light to so many when it is dark is what Hilltop means to me.”

Michele Walker, Brain Injury Services

“From the moment I walked into the Family Resource Center for my job interview, I knew I must work there. Everyone was so warm, friendly and inviting that it filled me with an overwhelming sense of “Family” that I had never felt at any place of employment. I love my job and everyone that I work with; they are the most caring people with hearts of gold. I feel grateful everyday.”

Toni Garmong, Family First

“It is hard to describe what Hilltop means to me, as this company continues to have such a positive impact on my life. I have an immense appreciation for the support and guidance Hilltop has offered me over the years. I started my young career in housekeeping and at the time I thought of it as just another job that would pay the bills. As I began to learn more about Hilltop, I realized the amazing career opportunities they offer. This allowed me to shift my focus into truly looking at what do I wanted to do with my life and how Hilltop could be the place were I could achieve my career goals. Here we are 15 years later and with a lot of hard work and the wonderful support and guidance from our Leadership team, I have been fortunate to now hold a position in Management. To date, I continue to look at what is possible as I work to climb higher within the company. I have no hesitation in saying Hilltop saved my life. I say this because 15 years ago, I never would have imagined that a former street kid like me, who once saw no hope in this world due to growing up in a home filled with parental drug use and domestic violence, could one day be on a positive path to an enriching and rewarding career. I can’t see myself working anywhere else and hope to one day retire from this amazing company. I can honestly say, I don’t know where I would be today without the support of Hilltop.”

Tabby Wiiest, Brain Injury Services

“At the heart of Hilltop for me, are the amazing people I get to work with every day! I am inspired by them, and love how we can laugh together, even during stressful times. They are truly my work family!”

Josie Anders-Mize, Regional Services

“The Family Resource Center is a special place and we like to focus on the Hilltop value of fun. The spirit and positivity at this time is contagious and it is not only bringing out staff closer together but it is spilling over into how we interact with our clients. By having fun staff activities we have been able to get to know each other better and it is easier for us to get to know all the programs in our building and make referrals. We have had several families in the last couple months where a client comes in for one service and then after hearing their story the staff member says that this program might be a good fit or that program would really be helpful to them until it grows and the whole building has embraced the family. It is a wonderful thing to watch unfold as we help these families and it all started with fun.”

Paula Borman, Family Resource Center

“Although I have been at Hilltop for a short time, for me Hilltop means home. At Hilltop I feel highly accepted and valued but it is also a place of growth and fun. I know I am making a difference and I look forward to come to work everyday. The work culture of cooperation and support makes me feel like I am never alone when struggles come. Hilltop’s values align with a lot of my own and I am glad to be a part of this team!”

Stefanie Priard, High Fidelity Wraparound, Montrose FRC

“When I think about Hilltop, I think about the organization’s expressed values that gave me the courage to move across the country for a Hilltop job a year and a half ago and since then, that I have regularly seen on a daily basis. The relationships that I’ve built with so many people throughout the organization; instances where I have been encouraged to act with integrity even when it’s daunting; moments where continued courage has sparked growth and new opportunity; and an inclusive, FUN place where I get to work and laugh alongside others.”

Jess Giles, Family First/Parents as Teachers

“Hilltop is my way of providing for my three boys as a single mom.”

Tasia Schwab, Property & Environmental Services

“Hilltop is the closest thing to family that I have here in Colorado. My co-workers are truly my support system. I am happy to be able to continue helping our community and I appreciate my team and the atmosphere of fun and inclusivity that we have.”

Anna Cubel, Health Access

“What Hilltop means to me is people who inspire, delight, and humble me. They care about our residents, our employees and their families and go the extra mile every day. My team, like many teams at Hilltop, is made up of quality people. Work is never easy and #COVIDTestingLife can have unpredictable pendulum swings but they show up and take take care of people. Hilltop = Team.”

Catherine Lenhart, Property Services

“When I think of Hilltop, I think of ‘growth’. At first I didn’t believe in growing at Hilltop. Many supervisors would tell me, ‘You could grow in this company’ and they saw this potential that I didn’t see in myself at the time. I started March 2020 in Environmental Services and I fell in love with the residents which led me to being apart of the care staff. That made me feel like I was coming alive. Life went on and unfortunately events in my life happened, which I I felt like I regressed in a way because I had to take a job that took me away from Care staff, but back to a level 3 EVS position, which essentially is a job that I needed at that time. Eventually, I wanted to break this cycle of doing housekeeping for my daughter, and I went back to care to become a QMAP. Once again life happened and I had to leave ,but Hilltop never gave up on me. Here I am now! I am a bilingual Family Navigator living from the places I’ve learned and grown from these past couple of years. I truly see the way the company understands that life happens and there really is growth in the Hilltop family.”

Nicole Marizcal, Parents as Teachers

“As we head full speed into the darkest days of winter, I am amazed by the still blooming flowers outside my office door. Shades of purple that greet us with warmth before the sun has met the day. Hues of pink that bid us farewell, a thank you when the skies are grey. Those flowers are a lot like the people that work inside; colorful, resilient, dropping seeds and nurturing new growth, a beautiful reminder that we are greater than the sum of our parts. Those flowers are a lot like the people we serve; independent, adaptable, bright, a perfect reminder that beauty can grow out of the weeds.”

Dana Weseman, Family First/Safe Care Program Coordinator

“I’ve only worked at Hilltop for three years but it’s been memorable. Hilltop is a unique company, not many can boast having employees work at the same company for close to 40 years and there are quite a few here who can. Employees who work here enjoy making other peoples lives better, both in the community and for their co-workers. Hilltoppers are problem solvers and they do this with enthusiasm and positive determination; sharing ideas with each other and figuring out solutions by listening to all. It’s this common goal that makes coming in each morning a pleasure.”

Tracey Barbieri, Corporate Office

“I am proud to work for an organization that strives to put people first. The outstanding care Hilltop provides to the community and individuals during all ages and stages of life inspires me to be a part of the essential and meaningful work being done.”

Jennifer Burke, Family First

“Because I like biking and Grand Junction has goat heads, I am fond of thorn proof tires and slime. This way as I’m trying to get from point A to point B or just enjoying a ride and I pick up a goat head in my tire, the slime will fill hole and I can continue on my way. Hilltop looks for those holes in our community safety net then provides solutions. When there were no options for brain injured adults, they created the Life Adjustment Program (LAP), when battered women didn’t have a place to turn, Hilltop developed a solution. When a program is no longer needed or someone else steps-in to fill that hole, Hilltop can step out and look for other avenues to keep our community strong. Hilltop approaches each individual where they are and supports them to where they hope to go.”

Jackson Berry, Red Compass Realty

“Hilltop means to me…working hard, but allowing us to play hard too – having FUN!!!!”

Kellee Echave, Support Services with Corporate

“When I think of Hilltop I think of its literal definition being that a hilltop is the highest point of a hill. Shouldn’t everybody have that perspective in their life maybe at least a hand full of times? Shouldn’t anybody have equitable access to get to top of the hill? I’ve heard that throughout history hilltops are prime locations for a city to be located on because it has both an advantage in defense and offense when it comes to strife. I wonder if Hilltop is not only a location but it is also a mindset as well. I wonder if Hilltop is a mountain of resources that many in the community can take to experience their own hilltop moments and that Hilltop can help usher that change people are wanting that in the long run will shape the family’s and staff’s attitude during the process of getting towards the top together. As I reflect on this, I believe I see these things in my supervisor, my coworkers, community members, and the place I work. I can see grit that comes from each staff worker partnered with families in our community mustering up resiliency, endurance, support, vulnerability, and focus. Isn’t that what it takes to go up a hill? When reaching the top, isn’t there a perspective to gain, a celebration to be had, and a sense of relief? Long story short, Hilltop, to me, is a place, an attitude, a process, and people spurring on people.”

Romany Morm, Parents as Teachers

“When thinking ‘What does Hilltop mean to you?’ I think of the people….my supervisor, my co-workers and our participants. My mind goes to challenges I’ve faced while being an employee at Hilltop and the support, compassion and guidance I had from the staff at the Family Resource Center. I think of our participants and the loss, trauma and hardships I’ve been able to support, guide and advocate for them during their time of need. Hilltop is an employment opportunity that fulfills your passions and goals. While going to work with the team we have here is safe, caring and motivational. The people make the environment and energy…so when I think of Hilltop I think of the staff and participants and how we all impact each other.”

Dominic Solitare, Family Resource Center/B4 Babies

“What Hilltop means to me: It means a new opportunity to meet amazing people, residents and staff members. It means a chance for me to figure out if healthcare is something I am interested in for a forever career. Being at Hilltop has helped me open up in new ways. I have made new friendships, and I have created bonds with residents that I will remember for the rest of my life. Being here is like my second family. I am proud to be a Hilltopper and work for an amazing community.”

Brooklyn Veit-Miller, The Commons

“Hilltop to me means having the ability to care for my family while doing meaningful work with our community every day! Hilltop means family, relationship, and fun. Hilltop means collaboration with all of our community partners.
Hilltop means:

H: Happy
I: Integrity
L: laughter
L: Language shared by all
T: Talk with understanding and compassion
O: Open and listening with the ability to hear.
P: Promise for a better future for all families”

Katherine Buxton, Family Connections

“To me, Hilltop means compassion, integrity, hope. The services Hilltop provides for the community is outstanding. Hilltop truly makes a difference in people’s lives, and its something to be proud of. I am truly blessed to be a part of something so impactful and meaningful in the community. When people ask me where I work, I am proud to say, ‘I work for Hilltop!'”

Victoria Gaasche, People Ops

“In a world where it seems larger companies only consider the bottom line, and view people as simply numbers to get the job done, Hilltop is different in my opinion. It means a lot to me, because its values, including people first, inclusivity, diversity, and respect, are not just talk.

Before I came to work for Hilltop, I spent 20 years in a cut throat ratings based industry. You were encouraged to speak up when you felt disrespected, but if you told the Powers that Be what they didn’t want to hear, you were demoted, or fired. That’s just the way it was. My job was about survival, rather than service.

I took a risk speaking up when I came to work for Hilltop, and Human Resources listened and followed up on my concerns, as an investigation determined that those concerns were legitimate. I feel valued. I feel appreciated. Best of all, I’m not afraid to be me and speak up when I feel it’s necessary. My work environment is now positive, and I love my job at Hilltop. For the remainder of my full time working years, I intend to stay, and serve, while doing my part, to be a part of Hilltop’s continued evolution and success.”

Kyle Troxel, Purchasing/Courier

“Hilltop is a big extension of my family. I have always felt welcome and absolutely love the people I work with. I have found this job to be the most rewarding job I have ever had. The core values are so important to me and I keep them close to me in everyday life as well. Hilltop rocks!”

Lyndsay Haddon, Property Services

“A fairly comfortable work environment that does what it can to keep everyone happy and healthy.”

Steven Vigil, Brain Injury Services

“A paycheck with health insurance.”

Geneva Smith, Brain Injury Services

“People of any age fare much better in life when they’re physically, socially, and mentally active. The Commons of Hilltop not only provides exceptional care for the physical well being of its residents, but also does its utmost to maintain their emotional spirit as well. In the time of Covid this has been a challenge. Life Enrichment created Spirit Week, where both residents and staff are encouraged to dress in the theme of the day, such as Sports Swag Day, Decade Day, or Wild West Day. Costumes were seen everyday during the month of October. Frequently providing enjoyable experiences for both residents and staff such as these proves that Hilltop’s commitment to overall wellness is second to none.”

Lina Palomo, The Commons

“I don’t think 250 words is enough to describe what Hilltop means to me! But to sum it up as best as possible, Hilltop means acceptance, community, diversity, growth and family. Hilltop has helped me grow as a person, has taught me so much and has shown me what a company that cares about their employees and residents should look like and feel like. Any chance I get, I tell everyone what a great company Hilltop is and even got my oldest daughter on board working here and she loves it just as much as I do! I can’t thank Hilltop enough for all the growth, opportunities and commitment it has shown to me, my family, our community and our residents!”

Amanda Veit, The Commons

“Being able to be a part of such an uplifting and caring workplace environment means the world to me. I could personally be having a terrible day, but the Residents always have a way of making me laugh and putting a smile on my face.”

Trey McIntyre, The Fountains

“What hilltop means to me is a community that is there for each other whenever, and a community that helps people in general no matter what the situation calls for.”

Anna Gillespie, The Fountains

“Hilltop is a special place to show up and contribute to others. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a team that provides safety, support, and resources to the community and its employees.”

Kristina Brown, Communities that Care

“I recently relocated to Montrose from Virginia. While exploring job opportunities I came across Hilltop and decided to research further. After completing an interview and eventually accepting a job offer, I now feel so at home with Hilltop. Hilltop to me means a sense of community. I could not have asked for a better group of co workers and job culture to be a part of. As I continue to learn more about my program, I am so excited to contribute and be part of a wonderful community of people and agencies.”

Meghan Ingle, Communities that Care

“Hilltop is overcoming adversity to find a way to bring hope and connection to our community.”

Sarah Rogers, ILST/Brain Injury Services

“Closing in on the end of my working life I am blessed to be able to work with a company like Hilltop that provides me the opportunity to help so many people. I read once that the later we get in life – giving back to community becomes increasingly more important on our hi. Thank you Hilltop for giving that opportunity to serve our community to all ages.”

Lee Kenney, Property Services

“Helping. I didn’t have an idea of the scope of Hilltop until I started working here in late 2020. But during my first phone interview Nicolle started listing all the ways Hilltop affects the community. Turned out I’d already been helped by Hilltop, 20 years earlier as a single mother when I went to B4 Babies. When talking with a college friend about my new job, she told me how she interned with Carter and got to see the buildings they were considering for a new program, the FRC, in Montrose, and how she was really impressed with their mission. As a young adult, another friend of mine worked with RYS, and when she moved on she wanted to keep helping youth and moved on to DHS while getting her degree, and now has her own practice as a licensed therapist with a focus on family and children.

I love how may facets of life Hilltop touches and I have yet to have anyone say anything that wasn’t positive, whether they are current employees, former employees, or have been helped by any of the services offered from Hilltop.

I’ve never had the same sense of pride from a company structured job. I’ve had jobs where anyone with a higher position was discouraged from mingling with the lower tiers. I’ve had jobs where we were told it was our duty to essentially take verbal abuse without being able to end the interaction (call center). And it was degrading. It leeched any desire to return the next day and the only thing that kept me going back was a minimum wage paycheck.

There’s been days I’ve gone home dog tired. But I’ve never been so emotionally exhausted by this job I faked an illness just to avoid it.”

Jaunnette Lorimer, COVID Testing Team

“What Hilltop means to me!
It’s a nice feeling of home away from home: The smiles, pats on the back, “hey, how are you doing today?”, work galore, concern, people dropping in to say hello and to wish me a good day, it means “you can do this”. It’s genuine interest in me as an individual, hearing my side of the story.
Hilltop means: I trust in you and in your efforts, it’s egging me on to unchartered waters; even if I feel ill-equipped. What Hilltop is is family, a group of individuals who rise up every morning to face the challenge of the day and face it with happiness and at times a little anxiousness. But, because there’s always someone there telling you you’re not alone, you know the day will turn out A-Okay! Much like home!
Hilltop means care for each and every person during the trials of COVID, so nobody hurts or struggles under this abhorrent pandemic! It means making difficult decisions that in the end are for the betterment and protection of the Hilltop body as a whole! Much like a family, a home!
Hilltop to me means happiness, gratitude, love and unbelievable awe in so much that happens here! GO HILLTOPPERS!”

Sally Valdez, Colorado 2-1-1

“Hilltop, to me, is Home. I started here 3 years ago, and have hopped around between positions and programs like a flea at a dog park. (That might be an over-exaggeration). With each position, I have gained plenty of knowledge, experience, and skills. Even more, I have made great connections and hopefully life-long friendships. I have first hand experienced in multiple different programs and have come to see how much of our communities Hilltop truly touches. I am so grateful to be a part of this organization. I hold a lot of pride and love for Hilltop and, no matter what position I end up in in the end, I know my career and my home is here.”

Angela Carbajal, Brain Injury Services

“I am a new employee for Hilltop Family Resource Center in Montrose and I’ve already felt such a warm welcoming since being a part of the team. I can see the compassion that everyone here possesses and it helps me to do the same for the participants when they first come in. We have a sign on the front of the building that says “All are welcome here.” and I think it stands true with the people who work for Hilltop as well. It’s a very comfortable feeling that I am happy to be a part of!”

Danielle Miller, Montrose Family Resource Center

“Hilltop to me means the matter of putting our residents first, giving them the absolute best quality of life. ‘To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors’ – Tai Walker”

Brandon McElroy, The Commons

“Hilltop has given me the opportunity to support members of our community who sometimes need it the most and put smiles on their faces!”

Lindsey Weaver, Life Enrichment

“To me, Hilltop means Work life balance! This photo was taken at the Pumpkin Patch! I don’t have children of my own, so I was able to share the gift of the Pumpkin Patch gift certificates from Hilltop with my sisters and nephews! Hilltop provides the opportunity to have fun both at work and with my family and friends!”

Joy Hamilton, Montrose Family Resource Center

“Hilltop means sometimes, I get to go to work with my Mom, Joy! When I come in everyone is so friendly and welcoming! I get treats from everyone and have learned new things like, how to spin around and how to sit still during meetings! (turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks) Mostly what I love about Hilltop is getting meet with employees and participants when they might be having a bad day, just sitting with them, loving on them and letting them know it will all be ok! Thank you Hilltop, for letting me come to work with my Mom!”

Sprucer Hamilton

“I work at Hilltop because of the amazing group of people who are my team!”

Monica Garcia, People Ops

“Hilltop to me is warmth, growth, and a good work environment. To me, the people who work for Hilltop truly show warmth and compassion to not just our participants but also to each other as co-workers. There is always an opportunity for growth and it shows in our co-workers being able to switch to different positions and be able to find growth in any services. Lastly, Hilltop cares for the employees and always strive to have a good work environment by being able to have benefits, wellness, and talking about diversity and making changes on the human level.”

Arianna Sherman, Youth Services

“I was hired during the pandemic last year. It was a great chance to be out helping others during that unprecedented time.”

Carolyn Richards, Montrose Family Resource Center

“To me, Hilltop means opportunity.
Opportunity to be a part of our community.
Opportunity to learn, and grow, as a person and as a professional.
Opportunity to help others.
Opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself.”

Amy Newberry, The Commons

“Hilltop has meant a good stable job full of people who have bent over backwards and taken care of me and my family thought some of the toughest and most trying times of my life.

When I needed a job almost 7 years ago and had no experience, hilltop helped get me internship to get the experience and then gave me a job. When I got sick with COVID and my program shutdown, hilltop helped my family keep our house and food on the table. When my program closed its doors for good hilltop forced doors open for me to have a job I would like and thrive at.

Thank you Hilltop.”

Casey King, Property Services

“Hilltop is like a big family. Wonderful place to work with great people to learn from. I’ve only been with Hilltop for a short time and I’m really enjoying my time so far. I would invite anyone to join this team.”

Josh Hertel, Property Services

“Hilltop means to me a chance to give back to the community and to make the community better by helping to offer more funding options for our programs through channels not yet explored and by bringing in specialty services in house so we can save money so in return we can use that money to make the community/ family a better place. It’s a wonderful place to work where you are able to see someone that hit bottom and in a terrible place go from being homeless and alone to in our shelter temporarily and put back on their feet, Put in another one of our locations for housing and is now working, has there daughter and thriving in life. Seeing their smile every day as we pull in to start our shifts as they leave to drop their kid off at school. Though they may not recognize us as the guy that re-glued down the transition strip on the floor that day in the shelter during the worst day of their lives, I’m proud to be a part of a program that can make that much of a difference in someone’s life.”

Devin Selleck, Property Services

“Hilltop means I get to work for an organization that believes in kindness and doing the right thing, an organization that puts peoples wellbeing first, an organization that takes a stand when it’s important, and an organization that values me as a person. This has been priceless during the pandemic. I have felt seen, heard and supported during many uncertain days. I am grateful for Hilltop!”

Aimee Quadri-Chavez, Grants Department

“When I describe Hilltop in my mind the first word that comes to mind is compassion. Since starting my job here I’ve connected with my compassionate side and really understood the meaning of empathy. I truly feel the need to care for everyone I cross paths with and show them that the world is not all as bad as it seems. There is always a smile hidden even on the cloudiest days. These last two years have been a crazy ride for everyone on a global scale. Hilltop can be a ray of light in these times for many people and I am so happy to be a part of that light!”

German Duarte, The Fountains

“Hilltop has made me feel very blessed and thankful. It has brought us closer than ever between the people we serve, and the people whom work for Hilltop. It has made me have a since of self worth, its given me an opportunity to continue to grow, learn, and continue to better myself and those around. I love working for Hilltop, it is the family to have!”

Tristan Delahanty, The Fountains

“Hilltop definitely lives up to “People First”. I love seeing the way our company helps the community such as the Men in Heels Race to donating blankets for her Linus Project to running fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Association and delivering meals with Meals on Wheels. At the Fountains we are always checking in on each other and forming strong bonds with each other. I know of several co workers who go the extra mile for our residents. I’m proud to work for and represent Hilltop!”

Elisabeth Zavala, The Fountains

“I work for Hilltop, but The Commons of Hilltop is my home. It is a place where I am safe to expand and perfect my skills. It is a place where the people I serve see me, and recognize what I try to bring to their lives. I have friends who share my enthusiasm. I have a team that works to recognize each other’s strengths while helping to support each others weaknesses. Over the time I have spent at The Commons, there are people that I come to love. People who care for me. In every way that counts – family.”

John Schaper, The Commons

“Hilltop is a family. I spend my days, nights, weekends and holidays on the LAP campus and it brings me so much joy to be a big part in there day to day lives. They need my support and I am always here to lend a helping hand, sit and talk or whatever they are in need of.”

Hadley Emmons, Brain Injury Services

“Hilltop means Family. Unlike other employers, Hilltop knows that family is important and strives to make the work life balance work for its employees. As my 9 year old say, Hilltop is caring and loving for others-Putting People First!”

Barbara Brown, Fiscal

“I love working at Hilltop because there is something new happening every day. I especially love theme days. This particular picture is a former resident and the LAP Case Management team on Twin Day! The resident enjoyed playing tag with staff so we made shirts on that theme.”

Heather Osborne, Brain Injury Services

“Hilltop is one big family, part of my family. I have met and stayed in contact with some truly amazing people. After being gone for 3 years, coming back to this family is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank you for accepting me back into this amazing family of caring people.”

Diana Gutierrez, Property Services

“Hilltop means to me that they really believe in Work/Life balance. They put action to those words in allowing you to have days off when needed and making sure you have time with your loved ones. I enjoy working at Hilltop because I can truly leave the work day at the office and start fresh at home. I have had more time with my children than at anytime in my working life. Thanks!”

Dillon Caster, Property Services

“I can’t believe I work for an organization that has FUN as a value. I’ve always held the personal value of ‘work hard/play hard’ and now I’m surrounded by others that feel the same way. To me, Hilltop means truly caring about other people, being willing to go the extra mile to help those around you, AND having a good time while bettering our community.”

Paige Cadman, Marketing

“Working for Hilltop has been the best job I have ever had. You get to go to work and make people feel good, and help them out with anything that they need help with. And no one is going to say you’re doing wrong by doing so, as a matter of fact they will help you. I feel good when I’m at work this is why I like working for Hilltop.”

Louis Palmer, Property Services

“To me, Hilltop is more than just the company I work for. It’s also an incredible community asset, and has been since well before I was born. As a little kid, I remember taking swimming lessons at Hilltop’s life center. I always liked the logo of the Hilltop “man.” In middle and high school, I had the opportunity to interact with Hilltop clients involved in Brain Injury services. After college, at the height of the recession, when I couldn’t find a job, Hilltop gave me the opportunity to volunteer. Eventually, I ended up with the opportunity to work for Hilltop- first in Senior Life Options and later in Support Services. I love knowing that Hilltop is a community resource that has stood the test of time, and that it grows and changes with our community.”

Jessie Kelleher, Information Technologies

“Hilltop means community. First job I have ever worked where people are first.”

Bryan Kelley, Property Services

“What Hilltop means to me -they are family. I say this because like a family, Hilltop is made up of diverse and talented individuals who bring their passion, caring and unwavering dedication to fulfill a common goal or mission. As a part of this family, I have been encouraged to grow professionally and personally. I have been challenged in my beliefs and opinions to have a broader perspective. I have been supported by leadership and co-workers to try new things. I have been given the autonomy to develop our volunteer program to better meet the needs of the organization. Everyday I feel that Hilltop has my back-just like a family. This was especially true for me when I got COVID and was quarantined at home with my family. My husband was very sick and frankly I was scared he was not going to make it. Hilltop supported me through that COVID crisis -giving me the time to get better and to take care of my husband. I am grateful to Hilltop and that is what Hilltop means to me-they are family.”

Sheryl Click, Volunteer Services

“For me Hilltop means a safe place to find help in all manner of things, and it also means you’ll meet great and caring people.”

Caleb Christopherson, Property Services

“My co-workers are why I come to work!”

Cathy Story, Senior Director SLO

“Hilltop has truly embraced the value of People First for me. My mother just passed & I have been surrounded by kindness, flowers, friends & every other kind of support I could ask for. I truly feel like I am appreciated & supported by the culture that Hilltop embraces.”
